Website Testimonials – To Be or Not To Be?

Website-Testimonials

In our previous article , we discussed how critical it is to have a website people trust. Having testimonials on your website can really help with this. Do website testimonials work? Sometimes. Website Testimonials only work if they are credible. If you generate business through word-of-mouth, the same can be done with a simple line of text on your website. Let’s look at a few ideas to help you turn your website viewers into paying customers by using effective website testimonials.

[dropcap]1[/dropcap]Ask For A Website Testimonial
If a client or customer ever tells you how good your service or product is, ask them for a testimonial. This is the easiest way to collect useful information that you can then use within your website.

[dropcap]2[/dropcap]Keep It Simple
Long drawn out website testimonials don’t work. If you ask the right questions, your client will give you the correct answers and you won’t need to over-edit testimonials. Here are a few tips to help you create testimonials that will work for you:

  • Use a simple outline: this was the problem / this was the solution
  • Include key benefits: “this product/service is great” vs “this product/service helped me save money”
  • Mention specific figures: “our sales increased” vs “it doubled our profits”
  • Compare: did the client use another product before yours?
[dropcap]3[/dropcap]Don’t Lie or Make Fake Testimonials
This is one of the main reasons why we’re talking about “effective testimonials”. You need to be credible! So, don’t fake it!. Here are a couple tips to help you write quality testimonials:

  • Include the client’s or customer’s full name & company
  • Enhance credibility by publishing a client/customer photo, company logo, or company website
[dropcap]4[/dropcap]Location, Location, Location!
An effective testimonial won’t work if it’s not placed in a strategic location on your website. Depending on where you place them, your conversion rate could increase dramatically. So, follow these simple tips:

  • Try and place testimonials on every page if possible. Sometimes this can work and look great, but sometimes this may be overkill
  • Include key benefits: “this product/service is great” vs “this product/service helped me save money”
  • Mention specific figures: “our sales increased” vs “it doubled our profits”
  • Compare: did the client use another product before yours?
